More BD

I did something wrong and couldn't add words! Cindy, Ken and Sherry Krull, and other of Andrea's friends did most (all) the work in pulling this together to celebrate the 50th birthday of Andrea. Her great friend Janet even flew in from Utah and spent ? days here in Oly. Many other of Andrea's many, many friends came, brought food (Cindy did the most,) gifts, love, chocolate and we had a wonderful BD on a beautiful day at a beautiful home on the water and just celebrated Andrea and got to know each other more. Some of us stayed until about midnight (?.) We just talked and enjoyed our blessings of everything...it was very a special night, so I thought you all should share it with us. I'll add a few more pictures. Hope it's not too many. Wish you all could have been there. It wont let me add more pictures, maybe tommorow.

Granddaughters and Grandfather

On a recent visit, Jennifer, Julia, and Andrea visited their 94-year-old grandfather, Val Gillett, He is truly a durable pioneer. He still lives in the house that he lived in when a teenager - it's just been added to over the years. One of the best stories about the house he lives in is that it did not have a basement. He and his wife, Emma, decided that a basement was needed, so it was painstakingly dug out by hand. Emma would hire the neighbor kids to carry buckets of excavated soil outside. The results were two large bedrooms, a bathroom, a food storage room, and a workspace for Val's jewelry bench. I wonder how many people today living without a basement in their homes would make the sacrifice necessary to do their own labor of digging underneath their home and putting in a basement.

Father and Daughter, April 11, 2009

Julia, Andrea, Jennifer, and friend Cindy were visiting us the second and third week of April. It was great to have so much family here at one time. This picture is of Andrea and her dad, taken in front of the Logan LDS temple on April 11th.

Five Generations - a year ago

A little over a year ago, Julia (behind the couch), Suzanne, and Blake were here (Preston) visiting us in between Ron's surgeries, and great-grandfather to Blake, Val Gillett from Grace, came for the day. This picture is memorable for that reason alone, but also of note is Ron's famous beard - which didn't last too much longer.

Great-grandchildren Steal the Show!

We recently had fun here in Preston, with visitors including daughter Julia, granddaughter Suzanne and her husband, Jonathan, and most important, great-grandson Blake. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit, and are amazed at the incredible energy that an 18-month-old child can generate. With five adults around, it is fun to watch the antics of a very busy little boy.
